The four steps
- Complete the background check. It is standard and takes about a week.
- Set up your case-system account with a hardware key or authenticator app.
- Complete Voter ID Assistance Fundamentals and earn your certificate.
- Book a shadowing shift. You will observe, not run cases.
After that
Once you have shadowed once, you are cleared for solo intake with escalation support. Most volunteers take a second shadowing shift anyway, and we recommend it.
How long until I am useful?
About three weeks, most of which is the background check running in the background while you take Fundamentals. The training itself is roughly five hours.
